CGS-NEW MEMBER FAQ’S

 

Q. When are CGS Meetings?

A.  CGS meetings are typically held on the third Tuesday of each month. This provides consistency and allows members to schedule ahead in order to attend. Members are notified by email with an invite to attend. During the summer months, meetings may take different forms but there will be some type of CGS-wide event on meeting dates. 

Q. When are CGS Events and Receptions?

A.  CGS events/receptions are scheduled randomly each month. They are typically scheduled in the evening from 6pm- 8pm unless otherwise noted.  Members are notified by Evite via email with an invite to attend and also through the CGS Slack account. The CGS may also be invited to other industry-wide events whose invitations may come directly from the hosting entity or through the Community Relations team. 

Q. Who is the contact person for Concierge Guild new members?

A.  All new members will receive a welcome letter along with CGS New Member FAQ’S from the Vice President. He/She will be your host and also the go-to person for questions related to CGS.  The VP may be reached at cgseattlevicepresident@gmail.com .  The VP will periodically host gatherings for new members who have joined and answer any questions.  On occasion, the President and Community Relations team may also visit member properties and be involved with new member meetings.  

Q.  Is there a cost to attend meetings or receptions?    

A. All CGS meetings and receptions are free to attend however if attending a sit down function/meeting with food and a service team, then a minimum gratuity of $10.00 is requested and collected upon arrival which goes to the service team at the venue hosting us.

Q. Is there an attendance requirement for attending meetings, events, receptions?

A. CGS bylaws ask that a representative from each property attend a minimum of 3 meetings per calendar year. There is no required attendance for events or receptions. Please note: attending a Trade Show event counts towards the meetings.

Q. Is there a dress code for meetings or events?

A. Business Casual, no jeans or other inappropriate attire please.

Q. As a member can I suggest or plan an event for CGS?

A. Yes, we encourage members to suggest and/or plan events, receptions for CGS, as this is what being a concierge is all about. All we ask is that you work with the President and Community Relation team in the planning of the event/reception.

Q. How do I become a CGS Officer?

A. Near the end of each calendar year when an Officer vacancy is expected, members interested in serving as officers indicate their interest and should plan to speak at a meeting or event about why they wish to become an officer. Ballots are provided via email and a vote/tally is conducted with results given before the first meeting in January. Each term is typically for two years.

Q. How can I serve and assist the CGS ?

A. All members are encouraged to share ideas and help out where they feel called. Stay tuned for more ways to do this!
